The Storm Within

There she was in her rocking chair, reading her daily dose of books

She heard a sound- one peculiar of sorts

“I’m hearing things” she said to herself

And continued to read

It was heard again

She got up to look, mostly out of curiosity

Was it the door creaking? The fan humming?

The trees swooshing or the dogs barking?

Oh, perhaps there was a ghost in the room!

The very thought made her skin crawl

“It couldn’t be”, she assured herself and continued to look

With a storm brewing outside, the windows bashed forcefully

She rushed to shut them

“Bash! Bash! Bash!”

She had to shut them quickly

With the next bash, she broke down in tears

Not because of the sounds

But because all along, she couldn’t accept that the sounds were of her storm within.

    1. OMGSJISHAISJ Ahhhh BriN I’m so happy to see you back in the blogosphere! Hoping to get back to read your posts like the good ol’ days 🙂

Thank you so much! Your comments always warm my heart :”)
Some people prefer the pompous poems to the simple ones. But I can’t even get myself to read the complicated poems, there’s no way I’m writing something like that 😂 Glad to know we like the same style of writing 🙂
